Being kinder on myself
I've been trying out a new format of daily habit tracking and today i decided to do one change that might have a big impact on my mental health.
See, I used to have separate checkboxes for drawing and writing. That means I initially had high hopes for myself, thinking I had enough time to both draw and write daily.
But in the last month, I've seen a distinct lack actual shading for both days. And seeing those blank boxes make me feel terrible. With actual life not living up to my ideals, I have decided to go with a more feasible option.
I merged both habits into one called Create.
Now, being able to do just one task per day is now enough to have that box checked. Very nice.
Also, I've decided to check the box for reading even if I don't read from the current e-book I'm going through. Reading is now counted even for the blogs I'm perusing through in the indie web, both from Bear Blog's discover page or from Bubbles. As long as I feel that I got something out of it and I'm not doom scrolling social media, that's a win.
In summary:
Daily Habit Tracking Changelog
- Drawing and Reading are now merged into one checkbox labelled as "Create"
- Indie web blogs are now counted for the "Reading" habit
Sometimes you have to keep things realistic in order to be kind to yourself. Of course this entire habit tracking thing is always improving and things will most likely change in the future.
Progression over perfection.
