โ๏ธ My approach to Metaphor ReFantazio
I'm consolidating everything I'm learning for my upcoming playthrough of this Medieval Persona game. I'm currently playing the demo (as of 2026/06/09) and waiting for the Steam Summer Sale where I can buy the game at a discounted price.
- Put everybody in the Back Row unless it's time for a melee attack to finish off an enemy. โ
- Bonds are very important. I mean, yeah, this is a Persona game after all. โ
- For difficult bosses, focus on their weakness. Use multiples of the same Archetype if needed. โ
- Open the round by Stealing, especially in Boss fights. The one missed turn is worth whatever loot you can get. โ
- Go to the Pantry and Shower every day. Bathroom every Idlesday. โ
- Don't be shy to Run. Sometimes it's better to run and try to stun the enemy in the Overworld than fight at a disadvantage. Running also lets you use Steal indefinitely (fact check this). โ
- Faker's Rougery is a good skill to use at the first turn at the last action icon. A chance to get +4 actions and a risk of only 1 action.
- Shelter Formation skill from the commander archetype is strong.
- Fight the Dragon in the Nord Mines. I didn't do this in the Demo, so I might just start another save when I do buy the full game. โ
- Get More's bond to level 2 so you can access the Archetype tree from the menu. No need to visit the Akademia.โ
- The Phantasmal Doll gives the equipped character two consecutive actions. Buy it at the Gloamhall in Grand Trad for 49,000 Reeve. Idlesday is sales day for shops so best to buy it then (or on specific bargain days). โ
- Use the Battle Redo function to find out an enemy's weakness first, then battle it again with full knowledge. โ
- Enter and exit dungeons to reload the basic enemies for grinding. โ
For my playthrough, I'll be following this guide because it states that "This guide aims to allow you to experience as much of the game as possible in a single playthrough" which is exactly how I want to play this game.
I'm old and I don't have the time to replay games and even as a youngling, I never really felt the desire to be a completionist if it requires multiple playthroughs. I love to get sucked into the world and the story, but once I'm done, that's enough for me.
