They introduced audio ads inside the trains
Ads have long been part of my weekly commute. Hell, we have a train decked out in a full gambling skin.
But these ads used to be unobtrusive. You just look away or close your eyes, and they won't bother you.
But now they made ads that play after the usual train announcements. Obviously, sound is harder to ignore.
People shouldn't have to resort to personal audio devices just to get some peace and quiet. The onus should not be on the victim, but on the service provider.
Now, in addition to uncivilized people scrolling social media with their phones on max volume, I have something new to be irritated by when I ride the train. Yipee!
The advert starts innocent enough, they even made it related to the train announcement system. I have to admit, it's a clever idea, but it's still an ad. They opened the floodgates. They're conditioning the passengers to get used to hearing ads. Soon it'll be a cacophony of capitalism assaulting the ears of those who just want a peaceful commute.
Noise pollution is an issue never addressed in this country. Loud is perceived as normal, as correct. Don't get me started with noisy assholes in the streets. There should be a "right to quiet" in this country.
I hope I'm proven wrong and that ads don't get worse in the future. But for now, I'm making sure I'm never without my earphones when I'm out of my house.
